Oracle SOA 11g Fault Management provides the new capability to associate the fault policies (define the fault policy file) with SOA Composite applications, BPEL process and Oracle Mediator service components or Reference binding components of BPEL process and Mediator service components.
The framework looks for fault policy bindings in the same directory as the composite.xml file of the SOA composite application or in a remote location identified by two properties set on composite.xml.
There are two configuration files (fault-policies.xml) and (fault-bindings.xml) getting created the same directory of composite.xml. But if you want to use the common fault handler across multiple composite application then define following properties on the composite.xml
oracle.composite.faultPolicyFile as oramds://apps/faultpolicyfiles/fault-policies.xml
oracle.compoiste.faultBindingsFile as oradmds://apps/faultpolicyfiles/fault-bindings.xml
When you use SOA Metadata service (MDS) shared area to keep your fault policy files that takes precedence than the fault policy files that are included in the same directory as the composite.xml file.
